The Count Down When Will UK Gyms Open.

Gyms and leisure centres have this week opened a series of “showroom sites” in an attempt to convince public health agencies that they are safe to reopen this summer after a proposed July 4 date was blocked by the Government.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s latest announcement on the lifting of lockdown restrictions included the reopening of pubs, restaurants, hairdressers, hotels and campsites but gyms, indoors leisure facilities and swimming pools were told to wait. Johnson has instead said that he will set up “taskforces with public health experts to help them become Covid secure and reopen as soon as possible”.
With a projected £2 billion ‘social cost’ in maintaining restrictions on gyms until October, the sector had already published detailed proposals that, with Government approval, would have allowed it to reopen and there is deep disappointment at the government’s decision. The sector will now lobby the Government to change its decision and still hopes to be allowed to resume this summer….
